Tote bag and something I really need

Here is the tote bag I mentioned on my last post,
and here is what I really need:
a better camera than my little point and shoot,
a few photography classes wouldn't hurt either,
yeah! OK, many classes!
For a while I have been frustrated with my pictures,
I always wait for a good natural light,
I have some white boards to reflect the good natural light;
but the bottom line is:
there is so much a point and shoot can do,
and mine has done it!

Frustration vented, now back to the tote bag.
I really wanted a leather handle for a cleaner look,
but, oh boy!
that thing was hard to sew on the bag,
I sewn with waxed cotton cord, thinking: strong,
which made it even harder,
even though the leather already had punched holes,
next time I might try some rivets.
Anyway, was worth it, I do like how it turned out.

Things I made last week

I don't remember a time when I wasn't making something,
or figuring out how to make something I have my eyes on;
but usually is a gift, nursery goods for my shop,
or something for my son.
Last week I got my fabrics out of the closet and made
an ipod case and a tote bag with leather handles for myself,
I really like how they both turned out.
Here are some pictures of the ipod case,
I will post some pictures of the bag next week.
Now, back to my fabrics, I am on a bag/pouch/case kind of mood.
Happy week to you all!

Making crayon hearts for Valentine's Day

I have seen these crayons on several blogs and
always wanted to try it, but I thought it would be too messy,
well, I was wrong, it's so easy, specially because
none of my son's crayons had the paper around it.

Here is how we made it:

  1. Peel the paper off the crayons (done by my son throughout the last year or so).
  2. Break in small pieces, not too small or they are going to blend on a very dark unrecognizable color.
  3. Put the pieces in a silicone heart pan.
  4. Put on the oven at 320F for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Wait it to cool down (it's chilly and dry today so I just put it outside, it's done in less than 5 min).
  6. Pop them out of the pan.

Update on the Castle

I really like how it turned out,
without the flags (of course!)
would be a really cute baby toy/pillow.

Take-out Baby with a real baby this time

Isn't it the cutest thing?
I love getting photos from my clients,
in this case a very talented photographer.
Here is the post about the take-out box,
and here you can take a glimpse at her wonderful job.

Take-out Baby

I just finished a giant take-out box,
a bit challenging but I really enjoyed making it,
I like the clean and crispy look of it;
it's now on its way to a talented photographer.
Can you imagine a baby inside that box?  What a fun idea!

Next project: A Castle!
My architecture student younger self is loving it!!!
